After 3 weeks of hard work and many challenges in Angola and Zambia, the team's (they included doctors, missionaries and volunteers) safe return to South Africa is not taken lightly. Almost 10,000 km were covered on some of the worst roads thinkable, making it one of the DFL's longest outreaches to date.
October 1, 2004 'Aid To Africa' Current Outreach to Angola
After four days of hard work in Angola, the team finally left for their last destination in Zambia, where they are currently doing a clinic and preaching the Gospel. The conditions in Angola, was much worse than anticipated, apart from the government hospitals, which are very expensive and hardly have any medicine, the people have no other alternative for medical care. Family, and friends who want to visit patients must pay an entry fee to do so. Patients also have to provide their own food while staying in hospitals for “care". The response to the help offered by DFL has been overwhelming, and their appreciation is evident as they leave the clinics smiling and hopeful. Congregations where messages have been brought to has truly benefited through the services, as one pastor told us, that his congregation has been uplifted and has grown during this time.The team has expressed their desire to get more involved in such work in Angola. In approximately 2 days preaching and clinical work left, we await their return with anticipation to hear more details of the experiences.
