The morning sun broke over the mountaintop and reflected off the metallic airplane (A 1945 Beech 18 craft) at the end of a grass runway nestled in the mountains of South Africa. Like a scene out of Casablanca, the propellers were rotated by hand and the engines slowly cranked over, sputtering to life, as our team of five prepared to depart to our destination and get to the task of building a medical clinic. ...[more]
e border post between Namibia and Angola and a further 16 hours driving on a very very bad road - only 440 km - therefore the team was extremely thankful when they finally arrived at 4:00 AM in the morning- they were expected 6:00 PM the previous day . Although they missed one day because of the traveling - a total of approximately 4000 km - they started the first medical work and preaching tod |
