Home Based Care Course at Mthaleni and Esifuleni

On the week of the 10th of April we conducted a course at these places, which had a great impact in the community.
The sad thing about this community, is that they are underdeveloped, and have no knowledge about AIDS; they deny that AIDS exists among them.

Here Doctors for life Home Based care Department played a crucial role as pioneers in educating these people in a very basic way on how to care for infected people at their home. People rally appreciated every bit of information we gave them. Almost every individual who was attending a course identified people who are infected within their own families.

At the same time we encouraged them about changing their lifestyle as aids is associated mostly by one’s life style.

Many of these people were able to make new decisions, which I think they require lots of prayers and the home based care itself as we need lots of equipment to implement this program and let it run smoothly.

Traveling with Home Based Care team to visit AIDS patients at home.

The lady in the bottom right corner not only has AIDS but cares for an orphan who lost both his parents to the disease. Her next door neighbor who was next on our list to visit died while we were still at this house. This is the face of the epidemic sweeping through Africa today, tearing lives and communities apart.
