Life-Child: ABSA 'Break an Egg' Fundraising Campaign

Below follows a report from ABSA bank who started a project named Sizanane to raise funds for the orphans at the Doctors For Life International Life-Child Centre in Schoemansdal, Malelane. The Staff and Executive Members of DFL, as well as the 19 children at Schoemasdal who's lives has been richly blessed by these gifts, would like to thank them very much..

By ABSA Malelane/Komatiepoort and staff

Our project was short of funds to buy beds for the orphans and a plan had to be made to collect funds. A number of suggestions were made and it was then decided to have a day that the customers can break an egg on the two Managers (Komati & Malelane) heads.

Leaflets were distributed in the two towns and many people were caught up in doing something out of the ordinary.

On the 16/04/2005 the managers of the Lowveld region had a weekend away and a trial run of breaking eggs on Managers head was held. Lucky for Ingrid, Chris was the only guinea pig. It was a huge success and an amount of R1 970.05 was raised.

Spar Malelane and Meat and Marine Komatipoort sponsored eggs for the big day of the 29/04/2005 . Here we would like to mention that the support we received from the other branches were overwhelming and heart warming. A special thanks to Edwin Mkhabele, our GM, Erika Human, area manager, Deon Buys and Riaan Louw from Group Implemetation, Vusi Mabusa - Manager Barberton, Andre vd Merwe - Manager Hazyview and Briget Bauermeister – Manager Brown Street, who came all the way to support us.

Although at first most of our customers found this a little strange to break eggs on somebody’s head, they quickly got into the spirit, and joined in the fun. As can been seen on the photo’s, Ingrid and Chris soon were “messed up” and by noon an amount of R1095-67 was raised.

We noticed that Ingrid’s hair is shiny and healthy; unfortunately Chris hair growth has not seen any improvement.

Thank you Ingrid and Chris for being the receivers of the customer’s tokens of appreciation.

A total amount of R3065-72 was raised the egg breaking campaign.
