Johan Claassen from Doctors For Life International attended a new initiative to start an “Abstinence Forum” which was held in Pretoria, RSA. Attendants included, True Love Waits, STIR, Spear Point, Reach for Life, The Vessel and Christian Youth and Beyond who has driving this initiative. It was a time of reflecting and colaberating between the different stake holders involved in spreading a message of hope in the midst of the AIDS epidemic. In the different activities presented by almost 20 organisations it was clear that millions of young people are reached by these efforts. Doctors For Life’s In Your Face programme, a Video/DVD available for sale, alone is reaching thousands of people through satellite broadcasting, sales to schools, churches, individuals and the government. It is also reaching the international market through individuals who are helping with translation, broadcasting and presentations. Namibia’s television network also recently did a run of this very comprehensive DVD. This is indeed encouraging news to the approximately 40 participants. Other attendants including people from government and the private sector. Local business got involved too, by sponsoring this event and getting on board to drive this forum in future. DFL would like to thank all those who made this event possible.
