AIDS Talk in Hillary, Durban

The team from Doctors For Life (Nonhlanhla and Femka) visited Afrikaans school on Tuesday 28th named Werda Skool. This came after the invitation proposed to Doctors For Life International by one of the teacher in this school Mev. Reta Meyer. “Many of them know and have heard about HIV/Aids but each individual tells himself that this won’t happen to me therefore they don’t stop sleeping around,” she said.

Aids transmission and other sexual transmitted infections (STI’s) was discussed and the aids video was shown afterwards. Many of them were touched by the pictures shown and it was the first time to see such pictures to many of them. The child with herpes in his face trembled them. It is not funny to look at your child knowing that I have done this to my child.

We concluded by abstinence as the only safety way of not catching the disease. Opportunity of questions was opened and one girl stood up and asked about the origin of aids. “No matter how aids came what matters is what we doing about it, what can we do in order to be on the safe side always?” Prevention is better than cure. Aids can’t be healed but there is only one way of which we can prevent it which is abstinence before marriage and faithfulness after marriage. This is the only solution which left many with hope and prepared to start practicing it.

Many thanks to our CEO Dr A. van Eeden for giving us permission to attend this appointment
