Doctors For Life - Home Base Care - Harding September 15, 2006
First Refresher Course For Home Based Caregivers A HUGE Success!!

Some of the community volunteers who work as “Home Based Care-givers” in the Harding area were trained as far back as 1998!

The HIV/AIDS disease has developed and matured since then and consequently DFL decided to “update” all the volunteers with regard to new developments in the AIDS field. About 40 care-givers attended the one day workshop at Deemount.

The topics covered included the use of ARV’s, XDR-TB and promoting a “Healthy Lifestyle”. The audience was very responsive and freely shared their opinions. A lovely “hot” chicken curry dish ( supplied by the local shopkeeper, Mr Adrian Govender) made up for the cold weather. Each volunteer also left the meeting with a donated blanket and it was smiles all around…

Happy smiles after receiving donated blankets!

DFL plans to conduct similar Refresher Courses in the other areas where DFL is operating such projects.

Volunteers from the USA, Stephen and Jim, took care of the transport arrangements
