First Refresher Course For Home Based Caregivers A HUGE Success!! Some of the community volunteers who work as “Home Based Care-givers” in the Harding area were trained as far back as 1998! The HIV/AIDS disease has developed and matured since then and consequently DFL decided to “update” all the volunteers with regard to new developments in the AIDS field. About 40 care-givers attended the one day workshop at Deemount.
The topics covered included the use of ARV’s, XDR-TB and promoting a “Healthy Lifestyle”. The audience was very responsive and freely shared their opinions. A lovely “hot” chicken curry dish ( supplied by the local shopkeeper, Mr Adrian Govender) made up for the cold weather. Each volunteer also left the meeting with a donated blanket and it was smiles all around…
DFL plans to conduct similar Refresher Courses in the other areas where DFL is operating such projects.
