March 21, 2005 Politicians Should Be Questioned On Their Stance On Abortion
Hundreds of people lined in the streets of Durban today in silent memory of
the approximately 400 000 children killed through abortion since it was
legalised on demand in 1997.
In an address to the crowd Fr Massimo Biancalani of the Holy Trinity Church
in Durban asked the question whether the nation's conscience has been
numbed. He urged the public to question politicians regarding their stance
in this most fundamental issue of human rights when they come asking for our
votes.
In standing for the rights of the unborn child protesters acknowledged that
even though it is true that great stride have been made in the enjoyments of
human rights, there are many of us, who find it difficult to celebrate while
the human rights of silent, defenseless class of people are trampled by
expedience and moral indifference.
