Through
the help of the Mozambiquen government , and local authorities, DFL obtained a
piece of property to build their first clinic on. The property is approximately
1000 m2 and situated along the beautiful coast line of Inhambane province (Ponta da Zavora).
Although area is probably better known for its natural beauty, and excellent reef,
making it one of the most popular holiday spots in Inhambane , it is also in desperate
need for medical care and social upliftment. One of the previous maternity wards
made from bamboo and leaves, was blown over by the wind, and the new one stood
the test of corruption, hygiene and lack of staff and medicines.

Doctors For Life started with the foundations of the 35 metre by 12 metre clinic,
around middle 2003, and the drilling for water was finished recently. When the clinic is finished it will
include a dispencery, 5 bed ward, first stage dilivery room, 3 consultancy rooms,
dentistry and waiting area for the patients. Although the building is aimed to be finished
in Dec 2005, the clinical work was started in September 2004 in tents.
