Update on the 2011 Aid to Africa medical outreach to Angola

The team finally reached the first destination of Cuito Cuanavale after about six days on the road. The target area is isolated and the team had to travel on bad roads, some of which were marked with land mine warnings! The 500 litre drinking water tank broke off the truck, damaging the vehicle, and one of the trailers broke down twice. Thankfully the damage was not too serious and everybody arrived safely in a hot Cuito Cuanavale. (Read More..)

The recent stance from the managing editor of the South African Medical Journal in favor of the extremely controversial practice of decriminalizing drugs of abuse (Harm Reduction) is both surprising and disconcerting. It shows a mixture of “arm chair medicine”, selective quoting of studies and conventions, and some really flawed reasoning. (Read More..)

Our immediate needs:

Zavora

One of our biggest need for volunteers at this moment is for our clinic in Zavora, Mozambique: We urgently need doctors and nurses to volunteer in the clinic for 2011. We also need medical volunteers for the rest of the year, on a short or on a long term basis. At the moment there is only one doctor doing all the work. Please assist us to serve the people in Mozambique. (Read More..)
